The action is unclear But I expect it to be severe To be severe The action is unclear But I expect it to be severe To be severe These are not just words This is not a game These are not just words This is not a game Words have meaning You’re not seeing It’s a shame the world clock is running out Words have meaning You’re not seeing It’s your fault the world clock is running out (These are not just words This is not a game To burn the world From calling names) Crisis of our own making Keeps on escalating I dare you to dare me I’m quietly preparing I dare you to dare me I’m quietly preparing For your annihilation It’s our suicide When you tantalize Increasingly erratic Complicated lies Do you hear the propaganda machine Reckless rhetoric Seething from between your teeth Provocation Our damnation Mad men tested like never before Oh, I dare you to dare me I dare you to dare me Take cover! Fauxtography 03:27
Fauxtography Does it change how you think of me? Fauxtography Does it change how you think of me? Faking lives Making jealous eyes You don’t know Don’t know how to feel alive Altering perceptions of reality Sucking on the teat of technology Fauxtography Does it change how you think of me? Fauxtography Does it change how you think of me? Staging lies Validating eyes You don’t know Don’t know how to feel alive Throw it out, we’re done with reality Cash it in on the social economy Fauxtography I’m excited Fauxtography Why don’t you like it?

First Day 04:03
Old friends “What did you…” “I heard that…” “No way, can’t believe it…” “Won’t you sit with me…” Breath in The words all around you No one’s talking to you Will it be okay? Stand in line Head held high Watch the time Passing by Watch the time Passing by On the first day Hear the bells Ringing loud On the first day Lose yourself In the crowd

Anatomy 03:37
I don't know what's really going on I don't know what's really going on I don't know what's really going on I don't know what's really going on But it keeps getting worse It keeps getting worse in my mind But it keeps getting worse It keeps getting worse over time So pull it out of me, out of me, out of me All the pain that I've caused Pull it out of me, out of me, out of me I can't take it no more I'm falling apart I'm on fire What have you done to me? This self-inflicted contempt pollutes my anatomy What have you done to me? No love No living above This toxic reality You're a liar Oh, baby, you're done to me But I can't even begin to clean my anatomy It's the ones that I know Who keep me low Acrylamides Triethanolamine It's all chemical It's all chemical It hides It hides inside all Phthalates I find Disrupt my endocrine Until We meet The end

Is Preacher closer to God or Satan? That’s what I want to know Is Big Black closer to God or Satan? That’s what I want to know (to know, to know) Exoneration Time to shut it down Four days negotiation The prison takeover Is Preacher closer to God or Satan? That’s what I want to know Is Big Black closer to God or Satan? That’s what I want to know (to know, to know) Festering fear When I wake up every time Don’t know what the day will bring From the ghosts in my mind Is Preacher closer to God or Satan? That’s what I want to know Is Big Black closer to God or Satan?

Daylight 04:26
Daylight Debatably When somethings bright It’s clear to me that I am Very much alone And round and round I go Does anybody know? Does anybody know? Timelines Of you and me Run parallel Invariably defined by How long they go Does anybody know How long they go? No way there’s no way that we’d grow No way there’s no way that we’d grow Daylight Debatably When somethings bright It’s clear to me that I am Very much alone I’m very much alone Does anybody know? Does anybody know? Does anybody know Does anybody know Where’d everybody go Does anybody know?

Time Zones 04:18
Oh blue, I finally see you Bright and fine There could not be two On wings and on walls It’s a wonder ‘til we fall Glimmer glow on my skin Uh-oh we’re running the clock down! Uh-oh we’re running the clock down! Look away (look away) It’s no wonder The shape it took Like no other Man made machine Take credit for assembly Now all I see is blue Uh-oh we’re running the clock down! Uh-oh we’re running the clock down! Uh-oh we’re running the clock down! Uh-oh we’re running the clock down! Leave us all behind! Uh-oh we’re running the clock down! Uh-oh we’re running the clock down! Uh-oh we’re running the clock down! Leave us all behind! Uh-oh we’re running the clock down!

Makibaka 04:49
Love is not here now Made out of place I find it’s not lost on me Warring souls collide Inside my dark body The world will fall And it’s all I can take Feeling pain for mistakes Opens my eyes To what’s become of me Take a deep breath for me Count up to five Pray for me that we may Sleep through the night Love is not here now

Do the Wurm! 03:21
Ha ha ha ha ha! It's true, we talk a lot Went to the top said ready or not With you, I'm justified That’s not what I meant take in stride When one guy makes a problem Only a man can solve ‘em I'm not one to stand by This is a game It's only a game You can't be the one that stops playing This is a game it's only a game To you Bet you didn't think it through A bad idea A point in time My sympathy won't bridge that divide I'm over here on the other side I'm not one to stand by Your mind is a trap door I’m looking for a way out Your mind is a trap door I’m looking for a way out Somebody Anyone Ugh Ha ha ha ha ha! This is a game It's only a game This is a game It's only a game This is a game It's only a game To you Ha ha ha ha ha!

about

The 10 songs on Vs. The Worm are a reflection of the division and chaos the world has descended into; a mirror to unpack what we see and feel. Longing for the past (“First Day”). Anger and loneliness in the present (“Anatomy,” “Daylight”). The destruction of climate change (“Time Zones”). Sexism in the workplace (“Do The Wurm!”). The looming threat of nuclear war (“MAD"). In order to move forward and change, we need to identify and talk about these problems. But despite its dark themes, it’s wrapped up as an artsy punk rock space opera that takes you on a cathartic journey.

For their first full-length album, Ovef Ow hit the road to record in the Lawrence, Kansas home studio of post-punk breakouts Sweeping Promises. The album was recorded and mastered by Caufield Schnug and mixed by Spenser Gralla. Listen closely for guest vocal appearances mixed in the choir of “First Day” by Lira Mondal of Sweeping Promises and Paul DeGeorge of Harry and the Potters!

Vs. The Worm is expected to drop on Aug. 25, 2023 via What’s For Breakfast? Records and the band’s own Oort Cloud Records.
